Nichimo Kingtiger 9/18/2020
1/35 scale 1975 Nichimo Kingtiger done for now, possible fine-tuning later as it will be in a diorama. This tank and Panthers are so sleek I like to leave off tow cables, tools, etc. that clutter up the lines. Palettes show colors that were used, although much was covered by the whitewash:

Zanas
common name of plants of the genus Daucus, cultivated from ancient times for their large, tapering, edible root, c. 1500, karette, from Middle French carrotte, from Latin carota, from Greek karoton.
Zanahoria f. (n.) "carrot"
14th cent. Old Spanish çanahoria, dialectic variant safanòria. Borrowed from Andalusian Arabic *safunnárya 'id.,' itself borrowed from Ancient Greek σταφυλίνη ἀγρία (staphulíne agría) "wild carrot." Σταφυλίνη "carrot" is a diminutive of σταφυλή (staphulé) "grape," of unknown origin. Ἀγρία, when referring to plants meaning "wild," is from ἀγρός (agrós) "field" (see agro).
The French in English; the Arabic in Spanish. They never get old.

Monogram's 1/48 kit from 1974, airbrushed acrylics and enamels. I love the late-war Dark Green and Brown-Violet splinter camo, used it about 20 years ago on an Me-109. Paint was still good after all this time.

The kit came with very nice billowing plastic sails, but I don't mind sewing, so I make my own. I was able to find a sail plan online. Scaled and printed its drawings to match the kit, then copied them onto starched fabric. Next step is to cut them out, and iron and hem the raw edges.
Sails done, dipped in coffee to age them, perimeters lined with thin wire for shaping later:
